Falling of the Upper Eyelid (Ptosis)
It is the illness where the muscle, which raises the upper eyelid, does not function or the function has decreased and therefore the eye cannot be opened. Ptosis can be congenital, from a trauma, and from tumor development. Eyesight is blocked depending on the closing of the eyelid. In long lasting patients, the eyesight can lessen in time and lead to permanent eyesight damage. It is seen that muscle development is not enough in patients with congenital ptosis. The bones around the eyes being broken, and injuries directly to the muscle, nerve injuries that the muscle lifts the eyelid defects can also lead to ptosis. The muscle, which is causing falling of the eyelid, is treated. The operation is done under local anesthesia. The patient can be discharged the same day as the operation.
